  1. How Many Women Does It Take to Change Wikipedia?

“On March 30, shortly after Stierch started her residency, the Archives hosted ‘She Blinded Me With Science: Smithsonian Women in Science Edit-a-Thon.’ Ten Wikipedians showed up, armed with laptops and ready to tackle the significant dearth of articles on notable female scientists.”

  12. "How deeply offensive it is—how simple minded and tech biased—to suggest that nature is something we can “plug into,” Matrix style, as if we’re somehow separate from the world around us, aloof from it until we choose to interact with it. We are one with the natural world, always have been, always will be. We are born jacked-in, but we learn to ignore it."

  14. I was convinced by hulu ads to try the Coke Zero Facial Profiler on facebook for myself and figured it might be a good tool to find celebrity lookalikes.  Since I’m on a quest to find a living Jeff Buckley for my sister, I plugged in a photo found on teh interwebs and was thusly amused.

Twinish.com was also recommended for finding, um, twins online, so Jeffy got plugged in there, too.  Hilarity ensued.

  20. average of 400 doilies (via devaburger)
I used the flickr API to get 400 images of doilies from the Crocheted Doilies group. This is the average of those 400 images.
I had to learn the Ruby programming language to do this, but it was worth it, and I’m sure my Ruby-geek husband will agree.
I like how there are definite rings visible, which tells me that doily construction is relatively consistent.
